How would you like to see yourself?
It’s very easy to get caught up in someone else’s perception of ourselves. Especially when we have a history of having been judged harshly by authority figures or parents. It’s important to find ways to take our own narrative back, asking how would I like to see myself?
Just go and do it independent of the outcome
Our society is driven by the success and failure narrative. Often it keeps us from doing the things we really would love to do for fear of the outcome. Maybe it should mean more finding the courage to go for something independent of whether it’ll work or not.
Talk with your doubt and be kind
Doubt is important, because it can help us see whether we need to change something. But it very easily can become intrusive as well. Especially for the ones, who try to make the perfect decision... Here's a way how I deal with it, I write a letter.
A husky and her antiques
‘Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened’ - Anatole France
This is a story about Poppy, a lovely husky, I was lucky enough to dog sit before moving to Portugal. Poppy knows exactly what she likes and what not. Motor bikes are a no go and coffeee shops a must… Very quickly I found out why!
Sometimes we need to leave
Often we only realise how unhealthy a certain environment or situation has been for us, after we finally left it. We might have endured something far too long, because we felt there was no choice. But at the end of the day, we all deserve a nourishing environment, where we can thrive.
Finding your unique
Finding your unique isn’t as easy as it sounds. Mainly, because the more we go looking, the more evasive the thing, which makes us us becomes. So, what do we do instead? We learn to improvise!
Follow your dreams, well…
What happens when your dreams don't materialise the way you think they should have done? Often the world tells us everything is possible, but maybe it's not completely true. While dreams are important to create change, we also need to honour the broken ones.
The greatest gift we can give to someone else
Just being there and listening deeply, when someone else is sharing their pain with us is often all that’s needed. But, it’s not that easy now is it? One of the reasons is, it makes us feel uncomfortable as well as helpless…
Hustling for worthiness to fit in is exhausting
One the one hand we wanna be authentic and on the other it comes at times with a hefty price. It certainly isn’t as easy, just saying: ‘Be authentic and everything will be fine!’ No, we need to be wise and discerning about this one. Or we might pay dearly…
We need safe spaces for authentic expression
We need more safe spaces, where we can authentically express ourselves and be real with each other. Especially in a society, which seems to overly focus on the positive most of the time. Fake positivity creates a lot of loneliness.
Pick a challenge, that feels good to you afterwards!
When we pick a challenge, that connects with our passion and values, we have a good chance of it being a success. Even though it might not feel that way, whilst in the midst of it.
My thoughts about life coaching nowadays!
There are many developments in the coaching industry I don’t agree with, like the over emphasis on self improvement for example. What about starting to learn to befriend ourselves more…
Everybody has a creative bone in their body, not just a selected few!
The belief of either being gifted with a creative bone in your body or not can do a lot of damage, keeping people away from creative self expression, discovering new layers of themselves, they didn’t know existed. We should rather ask ourselves, how some people became so invested in their own creativity!
